Web blog entry number five.

Today we met the lasten neuvola who will be our permanent neuvola. In her opinion Freya looked healthy and well fed, she is still not gaining weight as fast as is "normal", but this might have to do with my gestational diabetes, she could be getting her own weight now as it were, she weighed 4,325kg today. The neuvola was slightly concerned about how calm Freya is. I don't know, it's complicated, I am inclined to believe she just has a very calm and friendly nature, according to my mom I didn't cry much either when I was a baby...genetics?

Web blog entry number four.

Today we visited the neuvola again, Freya weighs 4,255kg now which is a weight gain, but not as much as the neuvola had hoped for. However, we feel that, considering that Freya eats the amount of food she is "supposed to" eat and is a really healthy, happy, and round baby that maybe the neuvola clings too much to statistics. No baby is the same now are they? Obviously she is gaining weight and length...something that also keeps coming back is the fact doctors, neuvola, and so on, worry about the weight gain not because its so exceptionally bad, but because Freya was in the ICU in the beginning of her life, these baby's are checked upon more critically. Same thing with the fysiotherapist in the afternoon, she also said Freya was doing great, but she wanted to continue to see her, not because there was anything that she could see that was wrong, but because of the difficult start Freya had. Luckily Freya doesn't seem to mind much, our little hero.

Web blog entry number three.

Now we have been to the baby neuvola, we had an "intake" visit. Everything was ok in principle, Freya hadn't gained the weight that she should have gained according to avarage growth rates, but the neuvola said this could be because she has grown in length instead. She is eating really well now, she finishes the 85ml bottles in no time! And she is awake a lot, quite a difference :)

Web blog entry number two.

Yesterday we were in the hospital for a final check up, determining wether or not Freya can be home and if so with or without the help of kotisairaala ( home hospital ), but since she eats so well and the doctors couldn't find anything wrong with her ( both the EEG and the EKG were fine ) she could come home without the help of kotisairaala, an no more tube down her nose. So today is the first day where a hospital visit is not a thing for the near future. You can already tell she knows her own home, we were at the grocery store today and she got a bit over excited about all the stuff there, the colors and sounds. When we came home she clearly relaxed.

Web blog entry number one.

Since yesterday Freya is home and doing great, she is awake a lot, much more than we have ever seen her awake in the hospital, on occasion even three hours in a row! And then for 20 mins. or so when its food time. Speaking of which, in the hospital she never ate more than 10ml and at home she eats an avarage of 60ml! Did they put sleeping drugs or something into her milk?!
