Web blog entry number five.

Many things have happened with Axel, he's grown a lot, he can stand up now and take two steps, says "mamma", especially in emergencies ;)He is a very happy young boy ( he turned one, now the 17th ). Enjoys life and mamma's hair to the despair of mamma who sees her hair growing thinner with every "loving" touch...

Axel is now testing what he can say using his tounge so there are many "bleh, blah, lelelelele" sounds and he finds it extremely entertaining :)

Unfortunatly, like the rest of the family he has been sick a lot, stomach flu's ( two even ) and a cold here and there. Last thursday he threw up so badly that he was close to dehydration and had to be hospitalized with an infusion for a day and a night. I stayed with him of course and I must say, he took it all rather well eventhough they pricked him with a needle in both hands before another doctor saved him from more pricks and put the infusion in a vain on his head.

Now he has actually been prescribed bed-rest, but tell that to a baby ;) But no wild games, no fatty foods and no contact with sick people if can be avoided, he needs to not be sick for a while now. Suppose that goes for all of us.

He loves playing with big sister and you can almost always find them together in a corner, he will take her food to sample it, but after that he feeds it to her. The 5th of November he will have his U6, more on that later.

Web blog entry number four.

Yesterday ( 12.02.2007 ), Axel had U4, the kinderarzt was very happy with Axel's development, he said Axel is doing stuff they don't look for in babies until they are 6 months old. His length is now 64 cm, his weight is 6220 g, and his head circumference is now 42 cm. These are all a little above average.

Axel was smiling through it all, until the vaccinations. Yes, you read right, vaccinations. The very first time he gets a vaccination at all, he got two. He didn't like the first one, but only cried for a moment, the second one however really made him upset. He didn't get any fever from them though, nor pain in the leg it seems, he just sleeps a bit more.

He will get his next vaccinations about 1 month from now. When he is 6 months old he will have U5 plus the third vaccination combination of this kind. There are four in total.

Other than that, Axel is definitely changing in a fast pace, from mostly sleeping he has turned into an energetic little boy who requires that you let him jump on your lap whenever he is not sleeping and he plays peek-a-boo. He already likes the little-bit-on-the-rough-side-games, to be performed by pappa and he laughs a lot. He has a real sense of humor. The other day I was changing Freya's pampers and she was tossing her clothes on the floor next to him and he thought that was hilarious. When you laugh out loud, there are big chances he will laugh with you.

Web blog entry number three.

Axel had his first visit to the kinderarzt 22.11.06, for U3 and everything checked out great, his length is now 54cm and he weighs 4300 g, his head circumference is 39 cm, all these measurements are exactly on the middle line, so perfectly normal.

He is having more "awake time" all the time and has really started smiling back, not always though, usually you get his serious face first ;) He also makes sounds, more all the time, this kind of cooing. And another thing, he really doesn't like to sleep alone. He can hold his soother for a while himself too.

Web blog entry number two.

It has been exactly one month ago that Axel was born, since then he has been doing great. Growing nicely, last wednesday the hebamme was here to weigh him and he weighed 4300 gram, so she suggested that since breastfeeding is working out so well that he should be breastfed atleast for the first five and a half months and after that slowly replace one "meal" with solids.

He sleeps well also, wakes up once in the night, it goes something like this: last feeding before night aprox. 22:00/23:00, wakes up around 3:00 and then again 6:00 or 7:00. He has already traveled once to the Netherlands. The way too NLD was tough for him, he was mostly awake and was rather upset later at oma and opa's, too many impressions. The way back was better, he slept most of the way and woke up just as we were parking the car in the garage.

Web blog entry number one.

Axel and I came home from the hospital already saturday 22.10.06. He has had both U1 and U2 ( auf Deutch! ), which are medical tests involving, apgar score ( 8/9/10 ), checking reflexes, vitamine K, muscle tone and other important things. Axel has been declared a healthy, be it chubby boy :)

At home he has been doing well, drinking good, he is being fully breast fed. We get a midwife ( hebamme ) visiting us everyday to check how he is doing and his weight has been going up nicely, in the last check he had remained the same weight as with the check before that in which he had gained 100g. Tomorrow he will be 10 days old and then we start giving him vitamine D also. There were two days, the day before yesterday and the day before that, that it

seemed as if he had some stomach problems, both days around the same time, between 20:00 and 23:00, but the last two days have been without any cramps so he has been sleeping very well and we have all been able to rest a bit. He has more "wake time" everyday it seems and we are all looking forward to getting to know our newborn!
