Web blog entry number nine.

A quick update on Pimmetje, seems the cat kennel idea wasn't needed afterall, both cats slept in our guestroom for a few nights and last night we decided to try and see if Pimmetje still pees everywhere during the night when he is free to roam the house, and there was nothing! So I guess the antibiotics did their work and hopefully he will stay ok now.

Web blog entry number eight.

Last weekend our red cat, Pimmetje started peeing blood all over the house, the curtains, the sofa, any clothes on the floor...After a telephone consult with the vet, we got antibiotics for a blatter infection. It seemed to help to the extend that he is no longer peeing blood, he hasn't stopped peeing all over the house though and he is miauwing constantly. I thought it might be a psychological thing, that he really wants to be outside, we found out that there are no laws against having cats outside here in Finland, so I let them out. Didn't stop him from coming in again and peeing all over the place though...Now I am thinking that I should take him to the vet, I am worried that there might be something else going on with him. I hope its nothing

Cat Kennel , ours is big enough for travel with both cats.
too serious and for now I will keep him in the cat kennel ( see picture )for the night. I feel very bad about it, but I can't have him peeing all over the house!

Web blog entry number seven.

I am starting to get pretty frustrated with this, growing enough or not growing enough. Freya is getting bottle fed so you can see how much she eats, I seriously wonder how they can tell that babies eat enough when they get breast fed, or do you force feed those too until they weigh an extra 85ml on the scale that you have standing next to you at all times? And do you wake up your baby every three hours? What if she was awake the whole morning and just fell asleep 20 minutes before the next feeding time? Isn't sleep important? I guess not, it's only brain cells growing then, not the weight...This morning I read this article on BBC World, about Newborn babies who gain weight rapidly in the first week of life are more likely to become obese later on, and you know what I find "funny" about that article? Its this here sentence: "It may be that babies pull off when they have had enough, whereas there is a tendency to encourage a baby to finish a bottle and thereby get them used to taking more." I so believe that! And it is infact recommended by insitutions like the neuvola that babies drink this abnormal amount of milk every three hours!

Freya in one of her outfits brought to us by her Oma from the Netherlands, isn't she adorable? :)
I believe very much that babies who do not need to be force fed due to weakness know very well themselves how much they need. It might have been necesary in the beginning of Freya's life to force feed her, but I don't believe it is true anymore. And ask anyone, she is a lovely round and healthy looking baby, not even the neuvola could deny that, and she is growing. So what is the bloody problem?!

Web blog entry number six.

I got the results from the x-ray and there are no fractures or dislocations, which is an enormous relief. It's "just" muscle ache from the heavy blow my body sustained, the doctor called it a muscle concussion. She said that as long as I don't do things that make me feel the pain it will be ok. If I should start feeling numbness in my legs or if the pain gets worse I will have to make a new appointment. She also suggested I take ibuprofen against inflammation.

Something that happened yesterday while we were in the hospital for Freya's fysiotherapy visit: The ward that we were supposed to go to with her wasn't expecting us and we were literally send forward and backward until we decided to split up, I went to the children's ward and Terje went to the neurology ward. This way, if we were expected in the children's ward I could tell them Terje and Freya were on their way ( as they would be send there by the neurology ward )or then they would tell me that we were expected at the neurology ward and I could catch up with Terje and Freya later. On my way to the children's ward a man walks out of the ward with a hood over his head, shoulders hunched and an axe in his hand, I tell you he scared the living daylights out of me and I wasn't the only one. As I walked into the children's ward some nurses were rather spooked too and had called security. After some time another nurse comes in and informs us, security caught him and aparently this guy was employed by the hospital and returning the axe to the kitchen...Seriously, he should have known better than to walk around like that though. I was already envisioning people being hacked into bits there in the main aula, which was the direction he was headed. *brrrr*
